I can has fud?

The nice thing about coming from a predominantly Brazilian family (displaced as we are in the Pacific NorthWest X3) is that the food is always good. I'm not anywhere near the skill level of my mother, but I made a salmon bake last night that turned out quite tasty. Mum actually said it was better than any of the salmon she's ever made, but I think she's just bored with her own food.

1 boneless Salmon fillet
1 medium tomato or 2 small tomatoes, diced
1 bell pepper or a few small peppers, diced
1/4 to 1/3 cup green olives, slice 'em if you want to
1/4 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon lime juice (lemon juice works too)
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon salt

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat the salmon fillet in the olive oil, front and back, then put it in a glass baking pan. If the fillet still has skin on it, make sure the skin side is facing down! Spread the garlic on top of the fillet, then sprinkle the salt evenly across. Sprinkle the lemon juice too. Now take all the veggies and spread them across the fillet. Cover the whole tray in foil and bake for about 25 minutes, then take the foil off and bake for an additional 15 minutes for browning.

Voila, you're done! Serves 3 to 5 people depending on the hunger level XD

I like eating it with rice, but I'm sure it'd go well with an al dente pasta, too.

Happy mumblings and Fanart

FINALLY saw the last part of the Sherlock(BBC) series, The Great Game, and sweet zombie Jesus! What an awesome episode, totally makes up for the last one having been kind of crap. (Except for that fight scene in the planetarium-- what was up with that?) How much love do I have for this incarnation of Watson? My love is BOUNDLESS. Martin Freeman = better than sliced bread. And I have read everything for the new series on AO3 in the past two hours. There needs to be more. o_o

I may or may not be trying to find an appropriate song to make a Sherlock music video XD

More Sailor Moon/Avengers crack

Medium: Digital sketch
Character(s): Captain America, Thor, and Hawkeye
Fandom: A terrible, terrible fusion of the Marvel'verse and Sailor Moon. God help us all.

Sailor Avengers! )

I didn't start out intending to only do blond guys. :/ The next set I do will look more visually interesting, I swear!

Sailor America has been redesigned for various reasons, including but not limited to the conclusion that some form of meatball hair was necessary.

Next: Iron Kamen, Sailor Storm, and Sailor Wasp...?

Best quote ever

If you have seen Labyrinth, then you are not a virgin. In fact, if you've seen Labyrinth, then you never were a virgin. It's the power of David Bowie's Area that, even through a recording, even in a family friendly movie, it can reach out and completely burn your virginity from the fabric of space and time. If you ever will see the movie Labyrinth, then you're not a virgin on credit, because your virginity will be retroactively destroyed in the future. In short, the moment that David Bowie appeared in that movie, in those tights, his Area became super powered, and devirginized the entire world.
— Sarrolyne on the power of David Bowie's Area, Metaquotes

This might be the most hilarious thing I've read.

Found on tvtropes here.

BBC's Sherlock

Sherlock Holmes and Watson in a modern day setting-- it's really, really well adapted. Just aired yesterday, featuring Martin Freeman as Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock with Doctor Who's Steve Moffat as one of the writers.

I can't get over how much I enjoyed watching the first episode! There's a great deal of suspense and even some angst (injured Watson discharged from the military! Psychosomatic limp! D:) but it's just so much fun.

In the first few minutes Detective Inspector Lestrade is giving a press release about these odd serial suicides that are happening-- and Sherlock somehow sends texts to everyone in the room with the message "wrong!" at half of Lestrade's assertions.

And Sherlock and Watson are mistaken for a couple several times, which is srsly LOLworthy. Sherlock is such a spaz, but totally brilliant-- Watson is amazingly capable and totally fearless, it's gorgeous. I know what I'll be doing every Sunday night in the near future! Switching to a proxy-server so I can sneak onto BBC's iplayer >_>

P.S. There needs to be tv'verse slash, STAT.

Seriously. Watch it. Captivating plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat, great music great acting-- what's not to love? There's seriously not a character in this movie that I don't want to throw down and have my wicked way with. (Except maybe Leonardo Decaprio, but that's just cuz I don't find him attractive, not cuz his character wasn't awesome). Joseph Gordon-Levitt was so stoic and cute and awesome and had the best fight scene I've seen in a very long time!

In other news, my mother has been converted into a slash fangirl and I find this to be hilarious.

She's known for years that I was into it, and generally found my pairings to be amusing and even agreed with a few of them, but was never really into it. Then a few months ago she started watching Torchwood, and developed a huge crush on Captain Jack Harkness-- who, it must be said, will sleep with anything that's mostly sentient, never mind human XD I think that was the turning point, because she and I just recently started watching BBC's Merlin and she's very vocal about what an adorable couple Arthur and Merlin are. Sometimes I really do love my family.

Also, I just watched the first few minutes of the live action sailor moon series. It's.... kind of like a train wreck. You can't look away.

Eventually this will result in some cracktastic fanart crossover. (Captain America+Sailor Moon=Pretty Soldier Sailor America, anyone? Anyone? Bueller?)

This movie review explains why SPLICE is a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE movie that everyone involved with should be ashamed of. Why, David Hewlett, why? T_T

In other news, TOY STORY 3 was awesome. Officially the only trilogy I've ever watched that I liked all three equally as much. And not to be all spoileriffic, but Buzz's Spanish-mode was amazing guys. For srs.

I'm having a bit of an internal conflict with Buzz and Woody, though. All my slash-fangirl instincts call out to pair the two of them, but Jessie is awesome. Clearly a threesome is called for.

Sorry if I destroyed anyone's childhood with that paragraph.

Another weird idea I had was that it would be awesome if that little girl, Bonnie, grew up to be a toy repairwoman for, like, private collectors and museums and stuff. But while she's in high school she goes through this period where she's collecting Buzz Lightyears to repair and sell. I may have spent way too much time deciding on personalities and names for these theoretical toys.

BUZZ: Original Buzz Lightyear; Woody's BFF.

BEE & ZEE: Purchased for twin brothers, these two act like brothers themselves.

SUNNY & POPS: Remember that space-ranger!Buzz and his nemesis Zurg from the second movie, who eventually were "revealed" to be father and son? Yeah, they eventually figure out that they're toys but decide to stick with the familial relationship.

L33T: Purchased by a computer programmer with a passion for tabletop gaming. Has been very drastically repainted, apparently for practice.

FINN: Damaged voicebox; can't speak and when you try to push buttons he says "To infin-fin-fin-fin... beyond..."

LUZ: Spanish for "light" and short for "Lightyear," this Buzz is in Spanish mode (but aware that he's a toy).

I kind of really want to draw all of them in order to showcase how they're different despite being the same toy. XD

LASTLY! I am working on a hard-core painting a la photoshop featuring Dean and Castiel (even though I am currently a bitter about the Supernatural fandom's recent epic!fails). WIPs of the image are being posted at my deviantArt gallery here.

1. Robin Hood was actually kind of awesome. I enjoyed the story and I thought if was interesting that it started while Robin was still fighting in the crusades rather than after he'd already arrived back home in England. Also, MARK STRONG<3! Plus, I think they did a good job of capturing the environment of the times, i.e. very dirty. My only problem is that the random bits of narrative text--a la painted tapestry style-- was unnecessary and essentially assumed that the audience was stupid. And it didn't match the aesthetic of that cool, animated-expressionist-painting that they did the credits in.

2. So apparently there's going to be a Supernatural anime? Weird, considering Dean would make so much fun of that concept given the opportunity.

3. Even weirder, there's going to be a Thundercats anime! On cartoon network. *flails* My CHILDHOOD. Christ, next they'll be telling me they're going to remake the Smurfs? Charlie Brown? /cries

...I wouldn't be opposed to them working on Pirates of Dark Water because that show was fucking addicting and they never finished it D:

4. WORLD CUP woo! Brazil is playing North Korea as I type. Hopefully Brazil will win, because otherwise that half of my nationality will be covered in shame.

I made one! *flails* It was both harder and easier than I thought it would be.

Um, so it's for the tv show Supernatural. I know not everyone's in this fandom... but I'd like to beg my f-list into watching this vid anyway and telling me if it sucks or not. Please? *is pathetic and needy*

what a piece of work is man

So many people on my f-list have work-type shenanigans. And now, I get to join in!

Got a job as a waitress in a restaurant in a hotel. The tips are amaaaaazing compared to what I used to get as a barista. Seriously. I used to get $10 tips in a week, if I was lucky, and now I'm making $10 tips a day just in cash, not including the tips I get from credit cards and room charges (which is significantly more than $10).

This is a good thing because I have a very strong desire to buy the new pokemon game with the pedometer gizmo, but I don't want to spend my paycheck on non-essential things. So, by only allotting my cash tips to fun things... after a mere three days of work I'm already 3/4 of the way there! :D

Of course, it's not all sunshine and daises. I have to get up at an ungodly hour, I don't have proper work shoes, and I haven't worked in a year so I'm wholly unused to standing on my feet for hours. This results in paaaaaaaaiin. Lucky, I'll only ever work 5-6 hours at a time.

Pros>cons. Yep.
